First-Class Learning in Lake Travis ISD

Sweetwater is located within the Lake Travis Independent School District (LTISD), which ranks among the best in Texas by virtually every measure.   The Texas Education Agency rates the district as Exemplary, a designation achieved by just 5 percent of school districts statewide.

Each of the schools to which Sweetwater students are assigned is also rated Exemplary.  Those are:

  • Serene Hills Elementary, 3301 Serene Hills Dr, Austin TX 78738, 512-533-7400
  • Lake Travis Middle School, 3328 RR620 South, Austin TX 78738, 512-533-6200
  • Lake Travis High School, 3324 RR620 South, Austin TX 78738, 512-533-6100

Both Newsweek and US News & World Report included Lake Travis High in their lists of America’s top high schools in 2012.  Lake Travis High also won the 2012 Lone Star Cup for achievement in academics, athletics and the arts.  Speaking of athletics, Lake Travis High won the Texas football championship in division 4A an unprecedented five years in a row from  2007 to 2011.  That record-breaking streak was chronicled in a video,  The Questfor Greatness, The Lake Travis Story, a portion of which can be seen on YouTube.com

The voters of LTISD have proven their commitment to maintaining these high standards.  In 2011, they passed a bond referendum that will enhance our existing schools, combine Lake Travis Middle and High School facilities into an expanded High School campus, and create a new middle school on Bee Creek Road, across Hwy 71 from Sweetwater.  The new middle school is under construction and scheduled to be ready for the 2014 school year.  See plans here.

The more you learn about Lake Travis schools, the more you’ll understand why Sweetwater is such a desirable community for families.
