Lake Travis High School ranks 4th on list of Austin’s best public high schools
Lake Travis High School, the recently expanded and renovated Lake Travis ISD high school serving all of Sweetwater, ranks fourth on a new list of Austin’s best public high schools.
The list was created by Niche.com, a national educational review website, by evaluating factors such as academics, teacher quality, school resources and scores on college entrance exams.
Lake Travis High rises to No. 3 on the list when only comprehensive public high schools are considered, and specialized schools such as Austin’s Liberal Arts & Science Academy are not included.
The Niche Academics grade accounts for 50 percent of the weight in the rankings. It includes academic statistics, along with surveys from students, alumni and parents.
Additional factors including health and safety, parent/student surveys, student culture and diversity, and teachers were each weighted at 10 percent. Resources and facilities were weighted at five percent, and extracurricular activities and sports/fitness were weighted at 2.5 percent each.
Lake Travis High School received an “A+” grade for academics and an “A” for every other category except student culture and diversity.
Lake Travis Middle School, another Lake Travis ISD school serving Sweetwater, has a Niche.com rating of A+.
