Sweetwater's 3rd Annual Wildflower Festival was a big hit!
Sweetwater’s wildflowers are taking a well-deserved summer vacation after blooming their hearts out for the community’s third annual Sweetwater Wildflower Festival in late April.
Hundreds of residents and visitors turned out to enjoy the day’s activities, which included live music by professional musicians, as well as future stars from Lake Travis High School. There were also popular food trucks and family friendly activities such as face painting and bounce houses.
Four-legged family members were a big part of this year’s Wildflower Festival, thanks to our first-ever partnership with Austin Pets Alive!
This Austin-based group, which works hard to save the region’s most at-risk animals, brought six of its most loveable dogs out to the festival, and five of the dogs found forever homes.
At the end of the day, the festival raised more than $3,200 for Austin Pets Alive! Some money was raised through donations made by families who took professional photos with their pets. More money was raised by auctioning off creative doghouses built and donated by Coventry and Drees. Chesmar Homes and Drees Custom Homes also donated their expertise in helping Austin Pets Alive with some much needed building repairs.
Dozens of vendors also participated, giving residents a taste of several activities and programs that will continue, including the Stargazing & S’Mores series and our partnership with Round Rock Honey, which recently established our first honeybee hives at Sweetwater.
