Sweetwater residents love these 3 restaurants
In a recent survey, Sweetwater residents named their top 3 nearby restaurants, and Café Blue at the Hill Country Galleria led the pack of local favorites. Not far behind were Angel’s Icehouse in Spicewood, and Verde’s Mexican Parrilla.
Described as a “classic seafood and oyster bar,” Cafe Blue offers what many consider to be the best seafood in Austin. The eclectic menu includes fish, shrimp, oysters and crab, along with steaks and the self-proclaimed “best Key Lime Pie this side of Florida.”
Located about 5 miles from Sweetwater, Café Blue also offers a full bar with an extensive wine selection. Wine Down Wednesdays offer great wine deals, and Café Blue also hosts popular Saturday and Sunday brunches.
Angel's Icehouse, located less than 5 miles from Sweetwater, is described as an icehouse that the whole family can enjoy – “even the fuzzy ones.” Home-cooked food includes Hand-Dipped Chicken Fried Steaks, Hand-Rolled Burgers and Hand-Cut French Fries. Other specialties include salads, soups and sandwiches. There’s a kid’s menu, and even a pet menu. There’s live music on Friday and Saturday nights, except in winter. Special events include Third Thursday Karaoke.
Also near Sweetwater, Verde's Mexican Parrilla is famous for its huge family-style grilled platters. After all, “parrilla” is Spanish for “grill.” Selections include chicken, pork, steak, fish and quail. Many items are offered wrapped in bacon, for even more deliciousness. The extensive menu also includes an array of appetizers, soups, salads and fajitas.
