Sweetwater residents reveal what they love most about their community
In a recent survey of Sweetwater residents, the community’s natural Hill Country environment and its abundance of parks and trails topped the list of their favorite things about where they live. Sweetwater’s friendly community vibe also ranked high in the survey.
Forty-five percent of Sweetwater residents cited “nature” as the best part of living in the community, followed by “people” at 25%, “homes” at 16%, and “nearby places to go” at 7%.
Sweetwater residents are fond of their neighbors, citing them as the key quality that makes Sweetwater a great place to call home. Ninety-one percent of respondents said they perceived Sweetwater as a friendly community, followed by “for people of all ages” (90%), “family oriented” (89%), “nature oriented” (88%) and “for people like me” (86%).
“Our neighbors are friendly and nice. The native hiking trails, parks, pool and Sunset Pavilion area are all great,” one resident responded.
“Beautiful and affordable homes, amenities, terrific neighbors and great location,” said another.
“Great community of neighbors and wonderful facilities like the clubhouse, pool and parks,” responded one resident.
For local attractions, the Hill Country Galleria, located approximately five miles from Sweetwater, was the clear resident favorite. Among nearby restaurants, residents cited Café Blue Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar, located in the Hill Country Galleria, as their top choice. Angel’s Ice House and Verde’s Mexican Parrilla also ranked high.
When it came to reasons for moving, most residents cited the desire for a newly constructed home. In fact, 71% of Sweetwater residents preferred new homes over existing homes, citing modern building technology and the ability to customize their plan and select their features.
“A better school” district was the second most popular reason for moving to Sweetwater, with residents expressing high satisfaction with the Lake Travis Independent School District serving the community. Nearly 80% of respondents considered Sweetwater’s schools to be the best, compared to other communities in the area.
Some fun facts about Sweetwater residents who responded to the survey:
- Residents tended to be married and in their mid-forties
- Sixty-four percent had one or more children at home.
- Most worked for companies located within a 25-mile radius.
- Intel, the State of Texas and Lake Travis ISD were the top employers of Sweetwater residents.
- On average, residents have lived in Sweetwater for about two years.
