Explore these cool summer attractions near Sweetwater
Anyone who’s ever spent any extended amount of time in Texas knows that our warm weather can last well past the unofficial end of summer around Labor Day.
Fortunately, the Texas Hill Country surrounding Sweetwater offers many cool attractions that can be enjoyed throughout much of the year, from brisk swimming holes to intriguing caverns. Here are 5 Hill Country adventures near Sweetwater, offering you the opportunity to have fun in nature and keep cool.
Swimming holes. Central Texas is rightfully famous for its swimming holes, and our list offers an honor roll of the Top 10 best places you can enjoy a refreshing dip.
Caverns. The region’s numerous caves are home to a great deal of wildlife, especially millions of Mexican free-tailed bats. Other caverns, such as Natural Bridge Caverns and Longhorn Cavern State Park, have become popular tourist attractions. Best of all, they have a constant year-round temperature of about 70 degrees.
Wine trail. You can also cool off inside the tasting rooms of the more than 50 wineries that make up the Texas Wine Trail around Sweetwater. More than 5 million visitors who tour these wineries every year, though fortunately not all at once. Outside of popular annual events, slower months are a great way to taste each winery’s distinctive personality and style.
Hill Country Indoor. Near Sweetwater in Bee Cave, Hill Country Indoor is a family-friendly attraction offering indoor-themed climbing, archery tag, camps and youth programs, and birthday parties. They also offer a full range of sports and fitness activities, including basketball, volleyball, soccer and much more.
Westcave Outdoor Discover Center. One of our favorite attractions is Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center, a Sweetwater partner. This 75-acre preserve offers educational programs and tours of its rustic hiking trails and its beautiful canyon and waterfall.
