Lake Travis High School makes list of Texas schools with highest SAT scores
The Texas Education Agency has released the latest SAT scores for all public high schools in the state, and Sweetwater’s high school is one of only six in the Austin area to rank among the top 50 high schools in Texas with the highest average SAT scores.
For the 2015-2016 school year, Lake Travis High School students had an average total SAT score of 1101. The average score on the math portion of the test was 563. For reading, it was 544.
Lake Travis High School ranks sixth among Austin area high schools on the list. When not considering charter, magnet and online schools, Lake Travis ranks fourth among traditional, comprehensive campuses.
How can parents use these rankings? “SAT scores are just one metric to gauge the effectiveness of a school, but they are a quick way to gauge how schools prepare students for college,” states an article accompanying the list in the Austin Business Journal. “That’s valuable info for corporate executives weighing an office move or homebuyers considering where to purchase property.”
Lake Travis High School has an overall A+ grade from Niche, with A+ marks for Academics, College Prep and Health & Safety. The school also receives A grades in the Teachers and Clubs & Activities categories.
Overall, the Lake Travis Independent School District ranks No. 2 on Niche’s list of 2018 Best School Districts in Austin.
