Spider Mountain opens as Texas’ only lift-served bike park
Sweetwater residents enjoy more than 700 acres of parks, trails, recreational amenities and natural open space right inside the community, including the Sweetwater Club and the Overlook Club.
To keep the adventure going, the beautiful Texas Hill Country beckons less than an hour from Sweetwater’s main entrance on Texas 71.
One of the newest Hill Country attractions waiting to be explored is Spider Mountain Bike Park, located in Burnet on the banks of Lake Buchanan, about 50 miles from Sweetwater.
Spider Mountain is Texas’ first and only lift-served mountain bike park. It’s also the only lift-served mountain bike park open year ‘round in the United States.
Spider Mountain has five trails ranging from beginner to expert, with 350 vertical feet of gravity to create a thrilling experience. Season passes and single-visit tickets are offered, along with rentals for bikes, helmets and pads.
The park also offers slopeside camping with lake access on a first-come, first-served basis. RVs and trailers are welcome, along with cars and tents, although no hookups are available.
Spider Mountain also hosts special events such as the Fathers Day Luau, featuring contests for the best Hawaiian shirts and best dad jokes.
Lodging is available at the nearby Thunderbird Lodge on Lake Buchanan, offering boating, boat rentals, fishing and water sports.
