Here are the latest rankings for the A-Rated LTISD schools serving Sweetwater
Sweetwater is proud to be part of the highly regarded Lake Travis Independent School District, which consistently ranks as one of the top school districts in the Austin metropolitan area. The individual LTISD campuses zoned to Sweetwater are also highly ranked.

Lake Travis ISD
Niche ranks LTISD as the No. 2 Best School District in Travis County, with an overall A grade and A+ grades for Academics and College Prep. LTISD also has A grades for Teachers and Clubs & Activities.
Niche also ranks LTISD No. 1 in Best School Districts for Athletes in Travis County. Other rankings include No. 2 District with the Best Teachers in Travis County and No. 2 Best Places to Teach in Travis County.
Lake Travis High School
Lake Travis High School has an overall A grade from Niche, with more A’s for Academics and College Prep. LTHS has A- grades for Teachers and Clubs & Activities.
Athletics have long been a standout category for LTHS, ranked No. 3 by Niche in Best High Schools for Athletes in Travis County.
In the most recent Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability Ratings, for 2022, LTHS earned an A for Student Achievement, with all A’s in the subcategories of STAAR Performance, Graduation Rate, and College, Career & Military Readiness. (STAAR, or State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, is the state testing program in core subjects including reading, math, science and social studies.)
In the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, LTHS has an overall score of 93.64 out of 100, with an impressive 98% graduation rate. It ranks No. 5 among traditional high schools in the Austin area, not including magnet and charter schools.
“Test scores at this school are far above the state average,” according to GreatSchools.org.
Lake Travis Middle School
Lake Travis Middle School has an overall A grade from Niche, with more A’s for Academics and Teachers.
In the TEA Accountability Ratings, LTMS has an overall A rating, with more A’s for Student Achievement and Closing the Gaps.
GreatSchools.org also notes that “test scores at this school are far above the state average.”
Rough Hollow Elementary and more
Rough Hollow Elementary, opened in 2020 has an A rating in Student Achievement from the TEA. It is too new to receive grades from Niche and GreatSchools.
Private onsite schools in the community include KLA Schools of Sweetwater, which caters to children ranging in age from infants to pre-kindergarteners with a unique learning environment based on the Reggio Emilia approach, a teaching philosophy that originated in Italy after the Second World War.
